"What a lucky find! A casual glance
through the Saturday Western Morning News revealed an ad for
‘Brittany Breaks’. I was a little apprehensive about
travelling after the recent loss of a partner. I needn’t have
worried. I have just returned from an enjoyable 5 days and it proved to
be an ideal holiday, well organised by Clifford, our host, and hassle
free from start to finish.
We were picked up by Clifford and
travelled out in the ‘Brittany Breaks’ minibus on the ferry
from Plymouth to his rustic Moulin set in glorious rural Brittany and
about an hour from the port.
A house party atmosphere pervades this
tranquil idyll. Our days were spent exploring local markets, food
fairs, and the dramatic pink granite coast. We alternated lunch stops
in good local restaurants or picnicked in glorious autumn sunshine. In
the afternoon we returned to relax at the Moulin before joining our
fellow guests for an aperitif and a delicious supper prepared by
Clifford.
He is a man of many parts, collecting
fresh croissants in the morning, guiding and driving us during the day
and feeding and entertaining us in the evening. One of his many
passions is wildlife and he has set about creating a haven for local
flora and fauna in the grounds of the Moulin with a nature trail and
lake. His excellent organisation and enthusiasm have inspired me to
come on another ‘Brittany Break’ and I am thinking of
joining a chalet party, this time in the Alps."
