How can one unite a country that has 265
different kinds of cheese?

French philosophy
Great food and wine is a crucial part of the Brittany Breaks experience - whether
out in the region's wonderful restaurants, or enjoying home cooked meals as our
house guests.
The Brittany Breaks cook is at your service to prepare meals
for you to the highest standards using local produce - and
no two meals are ever the same.
All our holidays are priced on a bed and breakfast basis.
Awake to the smells of coffee, pain au chocolat and croissants,
freshly bought from our local patisserie – or enjoy
toast and cereals of your choice.
For lunch and evening meals, the choice is yours to
eat in or out.
Home-cooked meals are provided at cost of ingredients only
- typically £12 per person per day is enough to cover
lunch and an indulgent four-course evening meal, including
plenty of wine.
As a measure of how good the home-cooked food is on a Brittany
Break, we have now produced a third edition of our unique
recipe book due to popular demand – contact
us to
order your copy.
We consider it a huge compliment that so many of our guests
holiday with us time and time again purely for the food alone.
- Lunch: A typical lunch in the Moulin might be home-made
soup, or a platter of cold meats and salads, a choice of
delicious patés, and plenty of fresh bread fresh
from the local patisserie.
- Evening meal: A typical 4-course meal might be:
- Hot goat's cheese on toasted french bread
& dressed salad
- Lemon chicken with roast Breton vegetables
- Generous cheese board & fresh bread
- Pêches flambées with rich brandy
sauce
- Red and white wine in plenty!
For those who enjoy seafood, a day trip to the fresh fish
markets on France's rugged northern coastline can be arranged
culminating in a banquet of Fruits de Mer in the evening.
During a day in the house, although your meals are prepared
for you by our team, you are free at all times to make as
many cups of tea or coffee as you wish, use the kitchen to
prepare any food of your own, or even pull a cork on a bottle
of wine. It really is that informal.
There are far too many mouth-watering restaurants in Brittany
to name them all here. Suffice to say our gourmet
weekends never need to return to the
same place twice.
Even on our own doorstep, Guerlesquin's own Créperie
du Martray is frequently praised by even the most well-travelled
Francophiles for serving 'the best crépes in all France'.
Our local hotel also has an impressive menu of traditional
dishes that beg to be tried - and tried again!
Lunch on the move often takes the form of a filled baguette,
or a croque monsieur in a street café.
You are welcome to eat out as much as your wallet and waistband
allows during your break - and leave us to worry about who's
driving. |
